Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions regarding our authentic hand painting process, curing timelines, pre shipment photo approvals, framing styles, and insured delivery.

I. Authenticity and Studio Materials

Are these genuine oil paintings or digital canvas prints?

Every single piece in our collection is 100 percent hand painted by master artists using heavy oil pigments on heavyweight natural Belgian linen canvas. We never sell flat digital canvas prints, giclees, computer reproductions, or poster transfers. When you inspect the artwork, you will see and feel physical impasto knife relief, authentic textured brush marks, and the luminous depth of real artist grade oil paints.

What materials do your artists use to ensure archival longevity?

Our artists work with premium mineral pigments, cold pressed natural linseed oils, acid free universal gesso sizing, and pure long staple Belgian linen. Canvases are hand stretched over solid kiln dried pine stretcher bars with beveled edges, preventing warping and guaranteeing that your artwork remains pristine for generations.

II. Fulfillment Timelines and Curing

Why does fulfillment take 3 to 5 weeks from order to delivery?

Unlike factory manufactured wall decor that is printed by machines in seconds, authentic fine oil art is a patient, multi stage craft:

1. Master Hand Painting (7 to 14 Business Days): Your assigned painter builds the composition layer by layer using rich oils and palette knife textures.
2. Natural Curing and Drying (7 to 14 Business Days): Thick oil paints require natural oxidation time to cure completely, preventing smudging or damage during transit.
3. Custom Framing and Crating (2 to 4 Business Days): Custom floating frames are assembled, and multi layer solid timber crates are built.
4. Express Courier Transit (3 to 7 Business Days): Insured priority delivery via FedEx or DHL Express straight to your home.

Do I get to preview the finished painting before it ships?

Yes, absolutely. Once the painting is complete, our studio photographs the artwork in calibrated daylight and emails high resolution preview images directly to you for approval. You can review the colors, composition, and texture. If you desire subtle adjustments to tonal contrast or fine details, our master painter will refine the canvas before final protective varnishing.

III. Framing, Packaging, and Delivery

What is the difference between Rolled, Stretched, and Floating Frame options?

Rolled Canvas: The cured painting is rolled safely with conservation paper inside a crush proof cylinder with 2.5 inches of extra border for local custom framing.
Frameless Stretched: Hand stretched over 1.5 inch deep kiln dried pine bars with seamless wrapped edges, arriving ready to hang.
Floating Frame: The canvas is mounted inside a solid aluminum or hardwood frame with a deliberate 3/8 inch shadow gap, creating a weightless gallery presentation.

How is large and oversized artwork protected during courier transit?

We take transit safety seriously. Stretched and framed pieces are shielded with acid free glassine paper across the impasto face, custom corner caps, two inch high density shock absorbing foam padding, double wall cartons, and a reinforced solid plywood timber crate for large and oversized pieces.

What happens if my package arrives damaged?

We provide a 100 percent Free Transit Replacement Guarantee. If your shipment sustains damage during transit, photograph the outer timber crate and canvas within 48 hours of delivery and email hello@handmadeoilart.com. Our atelier will immediately commission an expedited replacement painting at zero cost to you.
